The Quadtacular Disney Challenge

Well, I had the lucky fortune of visiting my friend Angela out in Orlando this past week. The first day I got there our friend Emily was visiting from Utah as well so the three of us went to a resort for Disney employees and enjoyed a picnic and some volleyball. On the way out, I challenged Angela to a game of tetherball. I whooped her good the first game but she wanted best out of three. I don't know what happened but she came back and beat me twice in a row leaving me hanging my head in shame... I don't know if I'll ever recover.

Well, we went swimming in a cold refreshing pool and then took Emily to the airport as she had to return to Utah. Angela and I decided that since I only had one day to visit and get to know all of Disney World we better make it count.

We started early in Animal kingdom. We went on a sweet roller coaster called Everest which reminds me a lot of the Matterhorn at Disneyland- but way better. Despite our tight schedule we rode it twice we were so impressed. We then went on a real African safari with Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, etc... We hunted down some poachers and really messed them up.

Epcot was our next stop on the map. We went around the world to France, Italy, Mexico, Germany, and many more. We stopped for lunch and I had a Filafel (balls of fried chickpeas) wrap- delicious.

We listened to some great singing from an American A' Capella group and saw a sailor street performer make everyone laugh.

We continued our journey to Hollywood studios where we survived the tower of terror and hung out with Aerosmith on the Rockin' Roller Coaster. The thing I liked the most about these rides was that they were longer than the average theme park ride and had awesome decor that made you feel like it was the real deal.

After all this we didn't give in to fatigue but pressed on to Magic Kingdom. It was about 9 PM so all the park was lighted beautifully. We road some classics like Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and even tried out the Buzz Lightyear ride where you get to shoot a gun and rack up points as you go through the ride. I won't say who won between Angela and I :) We even got to walk through castle which had been blocked off previously. It was a wonderful day and admittedly I was a bit skeptical about the parks because I haven't really been that much into Disney- however my opinion has changed. The whole Disney aspect is fun and tastefully done in a way not to detract too much from the ambiance of the different attractions. I'm a believer!

Insomniac, Insomniac!!

For that last two weeks ever since I got home from Hawaii I've been averaging 4 hours of sleep a night. Regardless of the time I go to bed I always wake up between 4 and 5 AM completely awake without even the slightest hint of wanting to go back to bed. What the?!?! I've never had an issue sleeping before so this is something new to me. I thought it might be my new surroundings as I just moved in to a new apartment however, I'm at my parents house right now and the exact same thing happened, which leads me to believe it's "Jet Lag Insomnia". Not sure how long the symptoms last but if I go for two more weeks, it could be clinically determined that I'm a full-fledged insomniac instead of an "acute" case. So as long as I take a 20 minute power nap during the day I don't really feel tired- I wonder if there are any other side effects that I may experience though. . . Well for now looks like I can dedicate much more time to blogging

Taylor's amazing facial hair or the 4th of July??

Well, Taylor suggested that I just write about him every time I blog because I have a hard time knowing what to say. So Taylor's facial hair is incredible, I just love it, it's all wiry and red, just incredible if you ask me...

Okay so anyway, I've been thinking a lot about the 4th of July and freedom. The 4th is my favorite holiday- not just because of the nice weather, plenitude of fire and explosions, hot chicks everywhere; but because this holiday commemorates the birth of our nation which led directly to the restoration of the gospel and everything that I'm thankful for in this life. America might not be the most free country in the world, most peaceful, or whatever, but it definately opened the door to a widespread democratic rule across the world. There are critics everywhere of our nation and many fault finders, however depsite its imperfections what a great place to live!

"It may be laid down as a primary postion, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a Free Government, owes not only a porportion of his property, but even of his personal services to the defense of it." - George Washington

May we give of ourselves to defend our country against anything that would deny our freedom!
